 Does the Job and Does It Well September 6, 2010

We've been using this shredder for almost 3 months and it's been a champ so far. I oil it (one quick squirt along the cutter) every 3 or 4 weeks, and so far so good (and please, buy the oil!). I almost deducted a star because it doesn't cut CDs or DVDs (I bet it would, this thing is pretty strong), but then I realized that's ridiculous, it's not a model designed for that. So it's a 5-star shredder to us.
It has one other great attribute: for some reason, it doesn't scare our cat when we shred something (the same cat that eats through the roof when the vacuum cleaner gets turned on), so when he sleeps on his pad near us in our home office, we can shred away and not bug him. That's amazing, because this is NOT a quiet shredder. Quiet shredders are in big cases and cost way more than this.

Replaced another brand that seized up every other page - this one works great, as advertised. With more bad guys looking to steal ID, we shred everything that stands still, or that we can catch.

I have to say I really like this new shredder. >I had my strip cut Fellowes for several years and never had any problems. Reason for new purchase was a power surge caused by testing of new generator breaker box. We lost several items and this was one of them. Had not thought of a new shredder before this, but knew when it happened that I wanted another Fellowes brand. It is definitely not quiet but the overall sound is not long being as the papers are only 11". It will take several at a time if necessary and I appreciate the automatic feeder. Very pleased overall. I have purchased many items from Amazon and love the site and the service.

So far so good! Seems to be more powerful and slightly quieter than my last shredder. At first I didn't like that you have to take the top off to empty it, but so far, dumping it has been a tidier process than the kind where the bin slides out. Can't complain.
